Alberta Health Services (AHS) is bringing back its Toys for Tickets campaign.
From Nov. 14 to Dec. 16, people who have recently received an AHS parking ticket are able to donate a toy at any AHS parking office in lieu of payment.
“We paused the Toys for Tickets campaign during COVID-19 but, given its past success and positive reception, we are happy to launch it once again this holiday season,” says Nick Ternovatsky, Director of Parking with AHS.
Here are the criteria for toys that can be donated:
- Must be in original packaging.
- Must be for ages 17 and under.
- Must have a value of at least $25.
The donated toys will be given to various children's foundations and charities throughout the province.
Recommended donations include books, science kits, electronics, Lego sets, baby toys, and gift cards for grocery stores and restaurants.
In 2019, over 125 toys were collected from the Edmonton area.
An AHS parking ticket is a ticket given to anyone who was in a pay-to-park lot owned by AHS.
Although there are none of these lots in Fort Saskatchewan, many Edmonton hospitals have them.
