Results from the 2022 provincial volleyball playdowns have arrived.

Four local high school men's and women's teams were in action in this year's tournaments.

The Salisbury men and women participated in the 4A division tourney this year and came home with mixed results.

Salisbury's men's team came into the tournament ranked as the top seed but faced some harsh competition before ultimately bowing out in the quarterfinals in an intense five-set match against Ross Sheppard. They finished fifth in the tournament.

The Salisbury girls came in as one of the favourites as well. They went all the way to the gold medal match but came up short against top seed Lindsay Thurber. The loss, although disappointing, did net them the silver medal.

It may not have been the finish either team was looking for in provincials, but both teams end their year with some very impressive showings and a couple of league championships.

Strathcona Christian had its men's and women's teams play in the 3A division tourney.

The women finished atop their pool and made a run to the bronze medal game before losing to Holy Rosary to ultimately finish fourth in the tournament. Considering they entered provincials as the seventh seed, it was an impressive showing by the girls.

Their men's team had a rough go in pool play, going 1-4 in round-robin play. They did have quite an exciting match against third-seed Camrose in which they took home a thrilling three-set match.

A couple of underdogs that came up a little short albeit with some impressive moments.
