Over 700 ringette players from across the province have arrived in Fort Saskatchewan for the weekend.

The annual Diamond Ring Tournament started on Friday (Dec. 2) morning and will run until Sunday (Dec. 4) at the JRC, Sportsplex, and Dow Centennial Centre.

15 ringette associations from across the province have teams participating in the tournament, totalling up to about 45 teams. Kids from ages four to 16 will be playing throughout the weekend.

Jody Urlacher with the Fort Sask Ringette Association is excited to see the tournament come back in its full form.

"Through COVID we were unable to have our coaches' game [in 2021]," said Urlacher. "[The game features] our local coaches and whoever volunteers to play versus the out-of-town coaches."

"It's a really good game! It's fast-paced, fun, silly, and a lot of fun for people to watch."

They will also be supporting the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank and the Families First Society with donation boxes at each venue.

A full schedule of games can be found on their facebook page here.
