The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train is rolling into Josephburg on Friday (Dec. 9).
The Josephburg stop will be at the Moyer Recreational Center (54596 Range Road 215) from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.
Parking at Moyer Recreation Centre will be reserved for individuals with valid parking and for people with disabilities.
Public parking is also available in a farmer’s field approximately two blocks north of the center, starting at 3:30 p.m. The walk is two blocks south, including across field terrain.
The event has several attractions such as live music from Tenille Townes and Aysanabee, bright multicolored lights covering the train, and a place to donate for the food bank. They even have hot chocolate to help warm up in the cold.
The Holiday Train program launched in 1999 and has since raised more than $21 million and collected over 5 million pounds of food for local food banks across North America.
The show is free to attend, but CP asks attendees to bring a cash or food donation if they're able.
Free bus transportation at the Bethel Transit Terminal is recommended for those living in Sherwood Park who want to attend the event. Bus tickets are available online by advance registration only.
Over 3,000 people have attended the event in past years, so CP suggests people arrive early.
The train will also be stopping in Edmonton the same day, south of the old Edmonton CP Station (7935 Gateway Blvd) from 8:15 to 8:45 p.m.
The 2022 tour will start on Nov. 23 and finish on Dec. 18. A full schedule is here.
