For the second straight year, the Moose Jaw Warriors will have two players taking part in the Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.
Brayden Yager and Jackson Unger were among the 40 players named by the Canadian Hockey League to the annual showcase of draft-eligible prospects on Monday.
“This is an exciting day for Brayden and Jackson and the Moose Jaw Warriors’ organization,” Warriors general manager Jason Ripplinger said. “Brayden and Jackson have put in a lot of hard work to get to this point and this is an opportunity for Brayden and Jackson to play with, and against, the best in their age group and we wish them all the best.”
Yager, who is in his third season with the Warriors, is tied for the team lead in goals with 18 and is second on the team in points with 37 in 30 games this season. He has 59 goals and 114 points in 117 career games with the Warriors.
The reigning CHL Rookie of the Year earned an ‘A’ rating by NHL Central Scouting in the Preliminary Players to Watch List.
Unger has put together a strong second season in Moose Jaw, posting a 5-6-0-0 record in 12 appearances with a 3.84 goals against average and a 0.875 save percentage. He’s won three of his last four starts for the Warriors.
Unger received a ‘C’ rating on NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List and will be one of four goalies taking part in the game.
