Christmas came early for the choir at Central School as they recently found out that they have been selected to perform as part of the entertainment for Telemiracle 2023.

Celia Hammerton, Arts Ed and Music teacher with the school provides details on what the audience can expect from the performance.

"We are going to perform the song that we auditioned with which is called "Try Everything" by Shakira and we've been practicing hard for a few months coming up to the audition. It's a really good song for the kids as the message of it is to never give up and always keep trying."

Hammerton says that they notified the students during an assembly that they had been selected to perform and they were very excited. She adds that it is a great opportunity for them to perform on a larger stage and also learn about fundraising and helping others.

In addition, Hammerton says that a number of the performances are being pre-recorded this year and the choir will be going to Regina on January 8th to record, and the performance will then be able to be seen as part of the annual fundraiser running through the weekend of March 25th and 26th.

Along with many rehearsals, Celia Hammerton Arts Ed and Music teacher at the school says they will be doing some fundraisers in the new year as provides details on one.

"We're very excited to have singer/songwriter from Regina, Jeffery Straker who will be doing a concert at Central School on February 10th. This will be a coffee/dessert night along with a silent auction and raffle all in aid of Telemiracle.

More details about this and additional fundraisers will be provided in the new year.
