The Quadrantids are also called the Bootids, because the meteors seem to come from the constellation Bootes.

The first meteor shower of the year ends its peak period Tuesday (Dec. 3) night.

This meteor shower is called the Quadrantids, and it's known for short peaks and bright fireballs.

Up to 80 meteors can be seen in the sky during the shower's peak period.

You can best view the shower at night in an area away from light pollution.

NASA suggests giving your eyes half an hour to adjust to the dark to get the best view of the meteor shower.

The meteor shower is expected to last until dawn.

Although most meteor showers come from comets, the Quadrantids come from an asteroid.
