Update: One dead in collision near Canmore

RCMP has confirmed that a fatality has been reported in a two-vehicle collision, just south of Canmore. Police are still on the scene of the collision which occurred in the earlier morning hours on Sunday on Highway 1A, westbound headed to Windridge Road. Highway 1A from Canmore to Exshaw has reopened. 

"Traffic in both directions is blocked. Officers anticipate being on the scene for several hours while they investigate this collision," stated an earlier RCMP press release.

Police reported earlier that two individuals sustained serious injuries.
