Alberta Health Services (AHS) experienced a province-wide outage that affected various different resources.
Just after 9 a.m. on Monday (Jan. 23) morning AHS tweeted that they were facing an outage that limited access to their 8-1-1 Health Link service.
The outage lasted all morning and early afternoon. At about 2:13 p.m. it was reported that the issue causing the outage was resolved.
"The technical issue causing the provincial AHS network outage has been resolved & teams are working quickly to restore all clinical systems, which will take a few hours," said AHS in a tweet. "We are reviewing the cause of the issue to learn how we can prevent this from happening in the future."
Their 8-1-1 Health Link is now fully back in service.
As a result of the outage, it was announced that AHS would be postponing some elective, non-urgent surgeries until the outage has been fixed. Patients affected by this have been contacted with procedures being rebooked as soon as possible.
