Fort Saskatchewan firefighters were up against a fire at a Southfort home over the weekend.

According to assistant fire chief Jay Parsons, the fire started at 45 Davis Street just after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, and seemed to have originated in the house's garage.

"Crews responded very quickly to the scene," Parsons said. "It was 1:05 when crews arrived."

The house had no occupants, which led to the local fire department performing a quick suppression on the fire.

"We had Tower 10 from Fort Saskatchewan respond with us. Strathcona County also responded as well, to provide backup."

Crews remained on the scene for an hour and a half as they waited for the blaze to completely die out.

No one was injured in the blaze, and the fire is pending further investigation.
