The Harbour Pool is excited to welcome back swimmers early next week.

The Harbour Pool will be opening up their doors next week after six weeks of maintenance.

On Monday (Feb. 13) avid swimmers in the community will be able to return to the pool.

Naomi Switzer, the aquatics operations supervisor, says the work went well.

"We had a bit of a longer shutdown this year because one of the main projects that needed to be completed was one of our life-cycle items of re-grouting all of the pool basins," said Switzer.

The pool was filled up on Wednesday (Feb. 8) for the first time in a while, and staff is hard at work finalizing things in time for Monday.

"[We're] moving on to heat the pool, balance it, and have it ready for Monday!"

People excited to get back to the pool shouldn't expect drastic changes to the pool, as most of the work took place behind the scenes.

"A lot of [the work done] is preventative maintenance to our backroom, our boilers, and our filter tanks," said Switzer. "Obviously our change rooms are nice and shiny, and you may notice our nice shiny groat in our basins."

There is, however, one new feature that will be swimmers can enjoy.

"We will be getting a new spray feature installed to replace the frog that was there," said Switzer. "We're getting a new leaf feature that will be installed [on Friday] so that will be something new that we have."

The thing that the staff is most excited about is welcoming back the community.

"We missed everyone in the six-week shutdown," said Switzer. "We're really looking forward to welcoming everyone back."
