Redwater RCMP arrested a man and laid a variety of charges on him, including owning a homemade gun.

Early in January, police noticed a vehicle driving at high speeds on a rural road and pulled it over.

According to police, the driver, 36-year-old Kyle Moore of Bon Accord, was suspended from driving a vehicle and was not allowed to own guns. He also had a warrant out for his arrest after failing to appear in court.

As police investigated further, they found the license plate did not match the vehicle, but Moore was able to provide a bill of sale for the car. Regardless, Moore was arrested.

As officers searched the car, they found what is believed to be a homemade gun.

Once police realized that Moore was on probation, he was transported to the Redwater RCMP detachment for a bail hearing, where he was remanded in custody.

Moore has been charged with the following:

  • Fail to Comply with a Probation Order.
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.
  • Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle.
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.

Moore appeared in court earlier this month.
