A program in Morden designed to help potential graduates find a grad dress, suit, or a variety of accessories returned last week after a three-year hiatus.

Tyler Sloan is a guidance counselor at Morden Collegiate Institute (MCI). He said it was very exciting to end the evening outfitting nearly all of the graduates that came out.

"There were smiles from ear to ear when students would walk in and just see the racks and racks of dresses and suits, it was instant smiles," said Sloan about witnessing the experience Wednesday. "And the energy was absolutely electric. It was just such a positive experience. There were tears. Good tears when family members saw their graduate wearing that special dress or special suit that they know they're going to wear on grad day."

Sloan said it was very exciting ending the 'Evening of Elegance' outfitting nearly all of the graduates that came out.

"I think we ended up having fourteen dresses and nine suits leave the building to future graduates. So super exciting, and that was to go along with shirts, some shoes, and earrings, it was just a wonderful event. The atmosphere was absolutely electric, people were so excited. I can't wait to see what those dresses and suits look like on these young individuals when we see them in June."

Sloan called the evening a 'very touching experience,' and also expressed his thanks to The YFC Warehouse to allow them to hold the event at their facility.  He said seeing the value in the event, MCI will definitely strive to continue doing this in the future.

The gowns and suits are all donated by local businesses or past graduates that no longer have a need for them.
