Strathcona County has opened up nominations for the 2023 Awards of Excellence.

Residents have until March 27 to nominate those who give back to the community and diversify the local economy. The award ceremony will then take place at Festival Place on June 1.

“The Awards of Excellence program is our opportunity to recognize these extraordinary people for their contributions and their positive impact on our community,” says Rod Frank, mayor of Strathcona County. “Every year I am inspired by the actions of residents, community groups and businesses who contribute towards making our County a great place to live and work.”

The categories for this year are:

  • Agricultural Leadership
  • Arts, Culture and Heritage
  • Athletic Achievement
  • Community Service
  • Economic Diversification
  • Heroism and Leadership
  • Outstanding Group
  • Service to Seniors
  • Youth

The nomination forms are available on the Strathcona County website.

Recipients of last year's awards include the Strathcona Food Bank Association, para-snowboarder Lisa DeJong, and the Cyber Eagles Robotics Team.
