The final tally is in, and the 2023 Asham U18 Men’s and Women’s Curling Championship is one of the most profitable in the event's history, according to the Altona Curling Club which hosted the event at the end of December. In a news release, the Club noted the event turned out a profit of just over $20,000.

"Great crowds, averaging 120 (people) per draw, were treated to five days of spectacular curling. Altona’s own Team Wahl captured the women’s title and Virden’s Team Freeman won the men’s title. A huge thank you to the Altona and area businesses for their corporate sponsorship and the over 50 volunteers who made the event an overwhelming success," stated the release.

The profits will be split between three local organizations.

• The Curtis Klassen Memorial Fund, a local charity that heavily funds local youth sport will receive $2,000.

• The Altona Curling Club Junior Legacy Fund will receive $5,000 to support ACC Junior Curling programming and encourage ACC Junior members to travel to participate in Junior bonspiels, training, and events outside of the Altona Curling Club.

• The Altona Curling Club will receive $3,000 to pay off their camera system that was installed in the fall of 2022 and $10,200.37 to be used for future Altona Curling Club improvements.
