Magician Wes Barker is bringing his unique brand of magic and hilarity to Fort Saskatchewan's Shell Theatre this weekend.

The show is set for Saturday (Feb. 25) at 7:30 p.m., presented by MIX 107.

Barker says he prefers bringing his show to a theatre stage.

"In a comedy club, I don't have a lot of space sometimes," Barker said. "On a theatre stage, I have more room, so I'm going to be thrashing around in a straitjacket, shooting my slingshot, and swallowing balloons."

Barker's performance at the Shell Theatre is going to contain material he's been honing for his upcoming comedy special.

"I'm not really at the creating point where I was 18 months ago. I'm in the fine-tuning point, so it's a great time for people to catch my show because it feels really tight and fun right now."

His show blends stunts, magic, and comedy and has been featured around the world. He's appeared on shows like Ellen, America's Got Talent, and even bamboozled Penn and Teller on their hit TV show "Fool Us." He also runs a YouTube channel with over 200,000 subscribers.

Originally from Langley, British Columbia, the 36-year-old says that his favourite part of the job is going places he usually wouldn't.

"Sometimes I get to go to Singapore and Dubai, sometimes I get to go to Australia, and sometimes I get to go to Fort Saskatchewan, Lethbridge, or Camrose," Barker said. "I get to meet all kinds of people and see things that many people just don't get to."

Limited seating is still available. You can purchase tickets here.
