A local model is on the world stage with the chance of being on the cover of Inked magazine.

Nicole Jade has reached the top 10 in Inked's Cover Girl competition, where models and tattoo enthusiasts enter for a chance to take home $25,000.

Jade, who is from Fort Saskatchewan, says she's been modelling all her life.

"I was on a commercial for the Family Channel, I've modelled for The Bay, I've been in a magazine for kids."

When Jade's not working or modelling she's spending time with her husband and four-year-old child.

She entered the contest after seeing it on social media.

"I never thought I would make it this far."

Jade added she would put the $25,000 towards mental initiatives.

"I don't think there's enough exposure towards it, showing that you can be a perfectly functioning person and still struggle with mental health."

The winner of the contest will also receive an exclusive tattoo session with Ryan Ashley, join celebrity photographer Christopher Kolk and land the cover feature.

The rankings are based on votes, where everyone can vote once a day for free. You can send a vote to Jade by visiting her page here.
