Playoff action resumes in the Sask Valley Hockey League tonight as the Dinsmore Dynamos head out on the road to face the Kenaston Blizzards. Their semi-final series is tied 1-1, and the winner will face the Kyle Elks in the SVHL Finals after they swept their semi-final against the Eston Ramblers.
Ahead of Game 3 tonight, West Central Online profiled the impressive seasons from both Dinsmore forward Chad Westman who won SVHL Rookie of the Year, and Jamien Yakubowski of the Blizzards who was actually the top scorer in all of Saskatchewan for senior hockey.
Dinsmore definitely surprised a few people by taking the opening game of the series back on February 28th 5-4 in overtime on the road, but Kenaston rebounded with their own road win in Dinsmore 6-2 back on March 2nd.
If they can keep it up Kenaston and Kyle should be on a collision course to the championship, but the Blizzards top scorer Yakubowski isn't taking anything for granted when it comes to this seasoned Dinsmore team.
"They know how to win, right? They won provincials last year, and have a good mix of guys. Couple of good lines and lots of young guys so they work and are hard to play against."
The as mentioned SVHL Rookie of the Year in Chad Westman is just one of those young pieces for the Dynamos. He might be a talented scorer, Westman knows the defensive game is just as important against a team like Kenaston.
"I feel like we keep up well with some of those teams. Against a team like Kenaston it's more of a defensive structure, trying to outsmart them in the defensive zone and capitalize on our opportunities when we get them."
The Dynamos will look to keep the trend of road teams winning in this series tonight. Puck drop is set for 8:00 PM tonight from Kenaston, and then Game 4 goes tomorrow night right back in Dinsmore again at 8:00 PM.
