Update: Vehicle collision in Airdrie causing massive gridlock

The scene has been cleared. 

Earlier on Thursday morning, there are multiple reports of a vehicle collision heading Southbound on the QEII highway just after the Yankee Boulevard exit. 

Both the left lane and the right lane were blocked as fire trucks are attending the scene and cleaning up debris. A portion of the center lane was open. 

Motorists have reported that traffic was backed up and that other major roadways, including 8th Street towards Balzac, were at a complete standstill. Emergency crews were on the scene, though there is no detail on whether there were injuries or how many vehicles are involved.
