An Edmonton man has been charged with making child pornography in relation to an investigation earlier this year.

The case started back when Brian Davis was arrested for child pornography in Yuba City, California. After his arrest, police found that Davis had been in contact with a 35-year-old Strathcona County woman.

According to ALERT's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit, the online chat logs between Davis and the woman are alleged to have shown sexual abuse of the woman's child.

After the woman was charged with making and distributing child pornography, police say that they found she was also in contact with a 36-year-old Edmonton father.

After an investigation, police say that this man had also been allegedly sharing the sexual abuse of his own child through online chat logs.

In early February, ALERT's ICE unit rescued the child from the father.

The man, whose name has not been released to protect the identity of his child, has been charged with the following:

  • Sexual assault
  • Sexual interference
  • Making child pornography
  • Accessing child pornography
  • Distributing child pornography
  • Possession of child pornography

The Strathcona County woman is now facing a total of 24 charges related to child sexual abuse material.

Both have been released from custody as they await their court dates later this month.

The children involved are receiving help from support services such as Zebra Center for Child Protection and Edmonton Police Services’ Child at Risk Response Team.
