The season is over for the Fort Sask Hawks after losing to the Beaumont Chiefs in the Capital Junior Hockey League (CJHL) quarterfinals.

Their final game was at the JRC last Friday (Mar. 3) and ended in a 6-4 loss, giving the Chiefs a 3-1 series victory.

The playoffs started strong for the Hawks. They defeated the Leduc Co-op Riggers in the qualifying round, winning a tight best-of-three series.

Beaumont turned out to be a formidable opponent, having also eliminated the Hawks in last year's playoffs. In a best-of-five series, the Hawks won the opener before facing three consecutive losses.

Despite being out of the playoffs, their team still shows well on the playoff leaderboards. Daniel Kozakewhich leads the entire CJHL with nine goals in seven playoff games.

Blake Hammel also leads the league in playoff assists and points, having 8 and 12, respectively.

Josh Nix was solid in the net, ending his playoff run with a .905 save percentage.

During the regular season, Hammel led the way with 28 goals and 64 points in 38 games.
