Fort Saskatchewan felt the effects of some northern Alberta earthquakes this morning.
According to Earthquakes Canada, three earthquakes hit near Reno, Alberta around 9 a.m. on Thursday (Mar. 16) morning.
The earthquakes occurred at 8:46 a.m., 8:59 a.m., and 9:07 a.m.
Andrew Schaeffer, a seismologist with Natural Resources Canada, says that the earthquake's magnitudes were 4.5, 4.6, and 3.8 respectively.
"These were all relatively shallow, around five kilometres depth, and occurred around the same region as the November event that was larger."
Whether or not the recent earthquakes are related to the November event is still under investigation.
Despite the earthquakes being over 450 kilometres away, residents all the way in Fort Saskatchewan reported feeling it.
"I live in the buildings on Southfort Boulevard, and I felt it twice," wrote one resident on a post made to Fort Sask Informed. "I was lying in my bed, and I felt my bed shake."
Reno is located about 44 km south of Peace River.
"My grandmother, who lives in Peace River, said her house was shaking too," wrote another resident.
There have been no damages reported by Fort Saskatchewan residents so far.
