Changes have been made to the Parks Canada reservation system, so how does that affect eager campers wanting to book at Elk Island National Park?

A new online system came into effect earlier this week and will stagger reservation dates for parks across the country.

Elk Island National Park's launch date will be March 30.

"They've improved the software on the new reservation system just to be able to handle all the incoming reservations," said Jana Cornoc, the visitor services supervisor for the park.

"It's definitely a bit more streamlined."

An important note is that the new reservation system will not be bringing over previous user accounts.

"All users, including people who had accounts on the old reservation service, will need to go in and create a new user account," said Cornoc. "All existing information, including booking history, will not be transferred over to the new platform."

The park is currently in the planning stages of what events they will hold this summer. They encourage people to stay tuned to their social media accounts for announcements.

"We are very much looking forward to this season," said Cornoc. "We are expecting it to be very busy."

There will be two ways for people to make a reservation on that date. You can either go to their website or phone their reservation service helpline at 1-877-737-3783
