The U17 AAA South Fort Chev Rangers open up their second-round playoff series at the JRC tonight.

They will be hosting the MLAC Beverly Optimist Leafs at 7:30 p.m. for game one of the best-of-three.

The Rangers got this point after a convincing opening-round series win over the South Side United Cycle Bulldogs that saw them win a pair of lopsided games 12-0 and 7-1.

Head coach Mason Hawkes said his team was able to take advantage of the Bulldogs missing some players from prior suspensions.

"I thought we had a really good first round," said Hawkes.

The Rangers swept the season series against MLAC, winning games 6-1, 5-4, and 11-5, but there is a sense that this team could give them trouble if they don't bring their top game.

"[One] of those games went to overtime," said Hawkes. "If anything, it's a good thing [that we had close games with them] because it shows our guys that they are ready to go."

"We've played well against them at times, and we had a big comeback win against them the last time."

Evin Bossel is leading the Rangers in playoff scoring, and the league for that matter, notching eight points in the two games they've played so far.

Goaltenders Lachlan Kirkey and Gage Roberts split the last series with one start apiece, they have a 1.000 and .929 save percentage respectively.

The series opens up in Fort Saskatchewan tonight before heading to Edmonton for game two on Saturday and, if needed, a deciding game three is set for Sunday at the JRC.

"We feel pretty good, pretty confident, and we will be ready to go."
