Lee Behrns will be taking over as principal of Cornerstone Christian School (CCS) this fall.
Behrns has been working there since 1998 when CCS first opened its high school wing. He has enjoyed watching the school blossom.
"When I started off, I was teaching a number of high school classes when things were first getting going," Behrns commented. "I've seen it grow a lot since those early days."
During his time there, Berhns has assumed multiple positions, including vice principal, president of Moose Jaw High School Athletics, and a coach for badminton, volleyball, and basketball.
"It's been quite fun, from teaching in the changeroom with a whiteboard portable in the early days to having my own fancy room here at Cornerstone." Behrns chuckled.
Some of Behrns' highlights from over the years include coaching the sports teams, watching the school's facilities develop, and leading his volleyball team to provincials 14 times.
Behrns plans on continuing to coach the sports teams and teach a couple of classes even with his newfound position.
"I think it's important to not just disappear down to the office end but to still be part of [the students'] lives."
The new principal will begin his duties in August with the beginning of the 2023/2024 school year.
Behrns will be replacing retiring principal and CEO Scott Robertson who has served at Cornerstone since 1999.
