Gadd family host their sixth annual Moose Jaw Transplant Trot
The sixth annual Moose Jaw Transplant Trot is happening this month.
The event is a chance to spread awareness of the importance of organ donation and the benefits it has for people around the world. The Transplant Trot is a chance for people to learn others' stories and how to become organ donors themselves.
The idea for the Transplant Trot stemmed from the Gadd family, who wanted to raise awareness about organ donation after Kevyn Gadd received a double-lung transplant in February of 2014.
Local farmer geared up for seeding season
As the weather gets warmer, farmers in the surrounding area are getting ready to start seeding.
Sue Knox and her family farm a mile north of Moose Jaw as well as in the Pasqua area and are busily preparing for the start of the season.
"We are usually on the land on the first or second of May, then finish up around the beginning of June depending on rain and other circumstances," Knox explained. "It usually takes us a month of steady work."
Knox is hoping the lingering snow will have put extra moisture into the ground after last year's dry spell.
Saskatchewan Health Authority announces new online booking system
The Saskatchewan Health Authority is excited to announce its new online booking system.
The booking system makes appointments at F.H. Wigmore Hospital, Crescent View Clinic, and Alliance Health Centre.

Vanier students participate in SBTA case competition over the weekend
Students from Vanier took part in the Saskatchewan Business Teachers Association (SBTA) case competition at the University of Regina last weekend.
The kids were given a case and sent to a room to confer with their group. From there, they dissected and discussed the details of the case.
"We figured out implementation plans, decision criteria, the problems throughout the case, and we get to solve that," explained Chelsea Cruz, one of the participating students.

Moose Jaw's very own Songer-Huber family had to spend time at the Ronald McDonald House in October and November of 2022 while their daughter, Lylah, was receiving treatment at the children's hospital.
Central Collegiate kicks off third annual bike drive
A group of kids from Central Collegiate's Leadership 20 class are looking for used bike donations.
The bike drive is a collaboration with Moose Jaw Multicultural Council. All bike donations will be given to newcomers in Moose Jaw, with a special focus on Ukrainian refugees.
Austin Kretsch, one of the students in the Leadership 20 class, says this project is part of an effort to give back to the community.
Central Collegiate student wins silver at Skills Canada competition
Trinity Dadzie, a Grade 12 student from Central Collegiate, participated and took home silver in her category at the Skills Canada Saskatchewan Competition.
The event took place at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Saskatoon Campus on April 28. Post-secondary and high school students were invited to compete in over 25 categories to showcase their talents and potentially win a medal.
Moose Jaw Community Choir presents second annual "Spring Sing" Concert!
The Moose Jaw Community Choir will be performing their second annual "Spring Sing" concert.
Choir Director Diane Rhodes is excited for the choir to get a chance to perform again.
"We had our first concert in May of 2019," Rhodes recalled. "Then COVID came and we haven't had a concert since then. We limped through COVID, had to stop for a while, but then gradually got going again and we're looking forward to presenting a concert this year!"
Mayor proclaims May 21 - 27 as Public Works Week; Encourages residents to say 'thanks'
The City of Moose Jaw signed an official proclamation for Public Works Week, which will be running from May 21 to 27.
The theme this year is 'Connecting The World Through Public Works'. The signing took place at the city's Wastewater Treatment Plant on Tuesday.
Mayor Clive Tolley, along with many Public Works representatives, were in attendance for the signing.
