Two familiar faces will step in to a pair of Vice Principal roles in Western School Division (WSD).

According to a press release, WSD has hired an Interim Vice Principal for Ecole Morden Middle School (EMMS) effective April 3rd and running to the end of this school year.

Cynthia Dick is no stranger to WSD and the Pembina Valley, as she has served as Principal for Maple Leaf Elementary School from 2013-2016 and was Principal at Roland School before that. She has been working as a Principal in Florida and has decided to move back to Morden to be closer to family and friends.

Dick received her Bachelor of Education in Elementary Phys. Ed., and Level 1 and 2 Administrator's Certificates as well as a Master of Education Degree from Brandon University.

The Board noted, Dick's philosophy and values are closely aligned with its Priorities Plan and the culture of ÉMMS.

The press release added, Dick is dedicated to building positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members. She is committed to providing students with rich and challenging learning experiences that engage and maximize their potential for growth. She will also commit to offering guidance and support to staff as they strive to be the best versions of themselves. She looks forward to connecting with the Blazer community over the next weeks and months.

Additionally, WSD has increased administration time at Morden Collegiate Institute, adding a part-time Vice Principal position.

Appointed to the role is teacher, Chris Chiappetta, who has been teaching Math and Science at the high school for the last 8 years. Often found behind the camera lens at school events taking pictures, Chiapetta has also coached Thunder volleyball. He has experience filling in as acting admin and also serves on the Leadership Committee.

Chiappetta has earned his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education in 2008 and 2009 from Queen's University and completed a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Education through the University of Manitoba in 2015. Most recently, he completed his Master's in Education with a focus on Administration in 2022.
