A Manitoba mother says her son's deadly addiction was unexpected and is warning others in hopes of preventing more deaths.

Liz (Friesen) Ledarney of Beausejour, Man.,  says her son David was 28-years-old when he headed off to work in the oil fields in Alberta. It was two years later he had a confession to make.

A young Manitoba farmer is getting noticed across the country, including having his face recently appear on a giant billboard in Toronto.

Zackery Wiebe has recently released his second single, "Do Your Worst" which was promoted on a billboard in Toronto through Amazon Music. His first single, "On the Edge" has garnered over 7 million plays on Spotify and he has gained over 160,000 subscribers on TikTok in the last few years.

Wiebe, who simply goes by the stage name Zackery, shares where his love of music comes from.

A Tribute to Musicals was the theme for this year's Danceworks dance recitals this year. After thirty weeks of hard work, dedication and preparation, three sold-out performances showcased the talent of the many ages and categories of dancers on stage.  

Danceworks Co-Owner and Administrator Vanessa Klassen described what the Friday night and Saturday afternoon and evening performances mean for the dancers, whether it's ballet, contemporary, hip-hop or theatrical movement. 

The purpose of the Morden Police Service Board (MPSB) is to provide civilian governance respecting the Morden Police Service (MPS) to ensure the enforcement of law, the maintenance of public peace, and prevention of crime stated MPS Board Chair Lee Bassett.

This year, it'll be a bit of a different May than other years for the Pembina Valley Red Dress Project (PVRDP), who in the past has held Red Dress exhibits in different communities across the Pembina Valley. For the last few years, PVRDP have held travelling exhibits in a variety of communities in the region, usually in parks, where red dresses are displayed in a variety of ways, sometimes featuring the work of local students, and usually with partner organization, Genesis House. 

City of Morden staff, Morden Police and Manitoba Hydro attended a scene last week on Stephen St, when a street light standard fell onto a parked car.

In a statement, Morden Police Chief Brad Neduzak said the gusty winds that day pushed over the pole onto a vehicle. There were no injuries, just damage to the vehicle.

Bruce Owen, Media Relations Officer for Manitoba Hydro, submitted this statement to PembinaValleyOnline when asked to comment on why this happened, and if there are more poles that are weakened and need to be replaced.

Saturday night at Zara’s Garden, a Roast and Toast party was held in honour of the former M.P. for Portage-Lisgar Candice Bergen.  

Many colleagues, Conservative party members, constituents, friends and family came to the event to tease and to thank Bergen for her service. 

Morden Fire and Rescue (MFR) has had a tough start to the year, according to Fire Chief Andy Thiessen, but not as far as fire calls go but as far as equipment goes. 

Last week Morden city council and CEO along with a couple staff members from the Public Works Dept attended AMM’s Spring Session and Trade Show.  

Mayor Nancy Penner said they were able to see some new equipment and opportunities to see what is new at the trade show.
