Rockport Carrier surprised Moose Jaw Transition House with an additional $5,000 donation after the success of the Fleur Fashion Show last weekend. The event raised a total of $5,000.
Jenn Angus, executive director at Moose Jaw Transition House, was overjoyed to receive the matching donation.
"What it means is that our shelter is going to get some much-needed love and attention, and some cosmetic upgrades that it really needs," she remarked.
This includes new paint jobs and bedding. Angus also thinks they may have reached their goal of new flooring for the shelter's basement.
"This means we can actually put some money into those comfort things that make women feel at home when they walk in the door," Angus commented.
Rockport Carrier is a 25-year trucking company based out of Moose Jaw. The company decided to make a $5,000 donation after hearing about the success of the Fleur Fashion Show on Golden West Radio and Discover Moose Jaw.
"After seeing how much the fashion show raised and being so proud of our community, we decided to match [the dollar amount]," remarked Nadene Mac Angus from Rockport Carrier.
Cameron Irwin, an employee of Rockport Carrier, thought it would be a great idea to donate to this worthy cause.
"Just being a 25-year company within the community, it felt like now was the time to do something like this," Irwin mentioned. "All these women did a lot of work on the fashion show and it looked amazing!"
Irwin recognized the importance of the Transition House to the women in the community and is hoping that Rockport's contribution can help them.
