Amanda Dayle Green

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Amanda (baby girl) on March 27, 2023. She passed peacefully with her family by her side.

Amanda is survived by her husband Chad, children; Bailey (Bethany and her beautiful children Ryker and Ronan), Daylen (Pam), Connor (Rachel), and Shawn.  Her mother Marlene, sister Andrea, Gladys (mother-in-law), grandmother, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by baby brother Allan, Grandma & Grandpa Ritchie, Uncle Wally and her father-in-law Barry.

Amanda was born in Portage and that is where she met the love of her life, Chad. They quickly fell in love and started a family. By the time she was 23 she had a full family; two stepsons, two sons and Chad. In 2008 she married her love and many years later added to the family with her fur babies, or zoo as she called it; Ozzy (dog), Moose (dog), Lillie (cat) and Oliver (cat).

Amanda was very passionate about a lot of things but none as much as her family. She would do anything for her family and loved every minute of it. The boys were heavily into sports and Amanda was their biggest fan, whether it was hockey, soccer, football, anything they loved, she would learn about it.

She made her home welcoming to everyone. If you were friends of the boys, you were part of the family. She would make sure that when the boys had friends over, they would be looked after. Snacks, food, and a place to stay if needed.

Her other love was her career. She worked at the MDC for over 20 years and spent over half of those as a nurse. She graduated with her nursing degree in 2009 and her family was so proud of her accomplishment. Amanda loved her job and took great pride in her work. She often referred to the residents at the MDC as family.

One of Amanda’s other passions was baking. Anything her boys wanted, she would make, or learn.  All the boys had to do was mention, “we haven’t had cookies in a while”, and within hours there was fresh baked cookies for them. Or when they would visit, she would tell them to put in their order so she could send them back with fresh baking.

Amanda was one of a kind, beautiful wife, great mother. She will be dearly missed by many. Her smile could light up a room and she had a heart of gold.

A Memorial Service to honor Amanda will be held on Saturday, April 8th, at 1:00 p.m. at the William Glesby Centre, 11 – 2nd St. NE, Portage la Prairie.  The service will be livestreamed with link to follow closer to the date.
