Over 300 people filed into the First United Church on Friday to ponder the intricate designs and craftsmanship of the Southwest Quilters Guild for the Southwest Quilters Guild Quilt Show.

The event, which typically takes place every two years, was finally able to return to Swift Current for the first time since 2018, something members of the guild have been anticipating for some time explained President of the Southwest Quilters Guild, Marcie Erick.

“It's been a long time and you can tell by the well over 200 quilts that are in here at the ladies have been very busy,” she stated.

In addition to filling the building with handmade quilts, some vendors were in attendance as well.

Broderick's, out of Outlook, set up shop at the church for the day, in addition to a boutique from the Guild and Pam Robertson, who teaches Canada's legacy and wartime quilting.

Attendees were also able to view displays of Victoria Quilts, Quilts of Valor Canada and some RCMP Quilts.

“It was fantastic, and I think that everyone enjoyed it,” she elaborated. “Everybody looks forward to it and they love to come out and they love to see the quilts and how different and beautiful they are.”
