The Swift Current Agricultural and Exhibition Association have begun their search for the 2023 Frontier Days Ambassador.

Madison Beam, Director of Youth Initiatives for the Swift Current Ag & Ex, elaborated on traits they are looking for when selecting their next ambassador.

“We are looking for someone who's a leader and who is confident because they are going to be the face of Frontier Days this year,” she explained. “The Frontier Days Ambassador should be someone who's passionate about agriculture and loves the prairie way of life. This person should feel comfortable with public speaking because they will need to do some public speaking and small presentations during Frontier Days.

“We are looking for someone who is available to be present for all the days of Frontier Days, as well as the days leading up to it for things like the pancake breakfast. This person should be outgoing and personable, someone who has a love for Swift Current and maybe even already knows some of the history of Frontier Days in Swift Current or are willing to learn a little bit more about it.”

The chosen ambassador will be involved in a crowning ceremony as well as a specialized photo shoot.

“Cayla from Backstage Studio is going to be doing the winner's hair and makeup and then we have Bobbi with AE photography who's going to be our photographer again this year, they're going to do a full makeover and photoshoot,” Biem elaborated. “For this photo shoot, we're going to have a whole bunch of sponsored clothing that we're going to get photographed and we have tons of new sponsors this year.”

She added that the 2023 Ambassador will get to keep all the clothes and jewelry from the shoot, totalling about $1,000.

At the end of their year as Ambassador, the individual will also be presented with a $2,000 scholarship for post-secondary school.

The contest is open for those who are aged 16 to 21, have a valid Saskatchewan driver's license, have no criminal record, and have never been married or had a child.

“Our deadline is actually this Friday, there's not a lot of time left, so, quickly get on that and people can feel free to message our social media sites if they have any questions or any concerns about it,” she concluded.
