Prairie South Division is hosting a "Try A Career" Expo next month.

The event allows the division's grade ten students to experience what each career field has to offer.

Troy Wist, the program facilitator of Regina District Industry Education Council, says it will have a different approach than most career fairs.

"It is designed to be a hands-on experience," Wist remarked. "We don't have booths where they hand out pamphlets, we have exhibitors who set up hands-on activities."

There are multiple industry booths set up with hands-on activities for the kids to do, such as learning how to use a blood pressure monitor or creating a quick wood project with a jigsaw.

Jeff Feeley, chair of the planning committee, is hoping that this expo will help kids develop a deeper understanding of what career options are open to them.

"I think that if they put some thought into it, think about what [activities] they did, and reflect back on it," Feeley commented. "I think they get the best bang for their buck that way."

The event takes place May 3, 2023, at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds.
