Anglers will have some material to read up on as the provincial government has released the 2023-24 Anglers Guide.
The yearly notice, sent out by the Ministry of Environment, contains new information along with other tips.
It's made for both people looking to familiarize the rules for the first time and for those looking to brush up.
Sport Fish Specialist Murray Koob says that there'll always be something new to learn for those who look.
"It's intended for everyone, from beginners to lifelong anglers. It's always going to be something new in the guide, so if your read it last year and think you're familiar you're probably wrong because there's always something new there to learn."
The guide also includes a foreword from the Minister of Environment, Dana Skoropad.
"Anglers play a key role in maintaining these opportunities and protecting the health and vibrancy of our waters and aquatic species by fishing responsibly. Familiarizing yourself with this guide and the rules and regulations around your planned fishing activity is a great start."
People looking to read up on the guide can do so by either reading up online or by waiting a bit to get a physical copy.
"There's a lot of information in the guide," said Koob, "I recommend every angler to look at it from cover-to-cover and you can find a copy of the guide online If you go to saskatchewan.ca/fishing and also that's available right now on our website. The printed version of our guide will be available in early May at Ministry of Environment field offices, most provincial park offices, and select retail outlets."
