Swift Current residents may have been noticing a chemical smell emitting from their tap water over the last several days, however, there is no need for concern.
The City of Swift Current’s website states that the chlorine levels at the water treatment plant will be increased periodically to ensure that residents have safe drinking water.
Samples of the water are taken four times a day at the water treatment plant. This allows for continuous adjustments to be made as to what is added to the water and is based on continuous computer monitor readings taken at the plant.
Swift Current Online was able to confirm with the City that this is in alignment with the normal spring run-off procedure.
There is no need to call the City to report it at this time.
