Phyllis Willenborg scratched her way to a $100,000 prize thanks to the CROSSWORD ticket in the SUPER SCRATCH PACK she picked up on March 14.
She purchased her ticket from Thrifty Market at 203 Main St. in Humboldt.
While scratching her ticket at home, Willenborg thought that she only uncovered four words, but upon closer inspection noticed she still had more letters to scratch.
By the time she finished, Willenborg had uncovered a total of ten words, netting her a prize of $100,000. But to be sure, the Humboldt resident headed back to the same store and checked her ticket on the self-checker.
“I just couldn’t believe it,” she said.
The happy winner has some plans for her windfall.
“I’m going to use some of it to help out the family,” she explained.
“I had no idea I’d ever win anything like that,” she added.
