Don't get too excited about spring just yet, as Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is calling for some snow heading our way over the next couple of days.

Natalie Hasell Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with ECCC says another Colorado Low is coming to southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

"There is a special weather statement in effect at this time. Since we are expecting things only to start on Tuesday afternoon, depending on where you are, a mix of rain and snow is expected," says Hasell. "There's a slight risk of freezing rain, as well. We are also expecting strong winds with this system."

She mentions that this type of weather could make driving difficult.

"Visibility could be poor with falling snow and blowing snow, so travel conditions could be particularly difficult, especially by the time we get to Wednesday morning and during the day on Wednesday."

Hasell says that this Colorado Low may be shorter than most, which could be great news for us. However, she notes that any system is a bad system.

"We do get a bit of a break, so a return to closer to seasonal (temperatures), but still still below normal temperatures. So, it's a freeze and thaw cycle, as in the aftermath of this system, is probably the next thing that will be of concern. There's some places that still have some snow on the ground, and now we're going to get more starting Tuesday night into Wednesday, Thursday, maybe Friday morning, and then after that, we see this freeze-thaw cycle, which means daytime temperatures are above 0 and night time temperatures are below 0. That just means that anything that did melt will refreeze."

Hasell wants you to remember that having an emergency kit prepared is a good idea.

"It is never too late or too early, so why not now?"
