Elk Island Catholic School (EICS) buses are remembering Constable Harvinder Singh Dhami in their own unique way.

After receiving the heartbreaking news of Dhami's death earlier this month, the school division decided that they wanted to do something to show solidarity with the RCMP.

One of the ways they decided was to tie blue ribbons to 40 school buses.

"A lot of our school divisions are lowering the Canadian flags at our schools and division offices to half-staff, but EICS also wanted to find another way to show our support and solidarity for the RCMP and police officers who have tragically lost their lives in the last few months," said Mike Hayden, the director of student transportation with EICS.

"To kinda do that, we decided to put some blue ribbons on our school buses."

The decision to do this was made shortly after RCMP released information about Constable Dhami's death. Within hours of making a decision, the ribbons were put on the buses.

"It's been out on our social media and we have gotten some really positive feedback," said Hayden.

"Our prayers continue to be with the families and friends who are mourning the loss of Constable Dhami, as well as officers Jordan, Ryan, and Kline."

The RCMP recently released information about Constable Dhami's regimental funeral, which will be held on Thursday (Apr. 20) at Millenium Place in Sherwood Park.
