A Fort Saskatchewan man has been arrested on multiple charges related to drugs and theft.

According to Strathcona County RCMP, police received a call in late March about a vehicle that was stuck after colliding with a control box near Township Road 544 and Range Road 222 in Sherwood Park.

Upon arrival, police report that they found a man who refused to identify himself and attempted to flee in the vehicle.

After employing members of the Fort Saskatchewan Police Dog Service, RCMP say that they located and arrested the man. After the arrest, police reportedly found that the suspect had outstanding warrants out of Strathcona County, Fort Saskatchewan, and Redwater.

Police reported that they had discovered that the vehicle was stolen out of Fort Saskatchewan prior to the incident and that they also found 317 grams of methamphetamine and Canadian currency inside.

As a result, the RCMP has charged 32-year-old Craig Perini, a resident of Fort Saskatchewan, with the following:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of stolen property (x2)
  • Obstruction.

RCMP also said that the vehicle used during the incident was also involved in a March 21 hit-and-run in Fort Saskatchewan.

Perini has been remanded into custody and will appear in court on Thursday (Apr. 20).
