Police will be closing off roads in Sherwood Park for the funeral procession of Constable Harvinder Singh Dhami.

Strathcona County RCMP will be redirecting traffic for the funeral procession of Constable Harvinder Singh Dhami. 

On Thursday (Apr. 20), officers will begin closing roads from 7 a.m. until noon.  

Police will begin the procession at Bethel Lutheran Church, heading north along Bethel Way before turning west onto Lakeland Drive and finally north on Premier Way to Millennium Place.

Some road restrictions will remain around Millennium Place until around 5 p.m.

Although the funeral service is closed to the public, people are allowed to join officers along to procession route to pay their respects.

The RCMP will also be live-streaming the funeral service on the Alberta RCMP YouTube channel. A public viewing of the live stream will be at the Strathcona County Community Centre's Agora from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Constable Dhami died earlier this month while responding to assist other officers at a noise complaint when his cruiser collided with a concrete barrier.

Dhami was a supporter of the Meals on Wheels program. The family has asked people to support their local Meals on Wheels program in lieu of flowers or other donations,
