Update:

Saskatchewan RCMP's Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST), assisted by the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) and North Battleford Gang Task Force (GTF), located and arrested Colton Swiftwolfe and Wionna Katcheech on April 25.

The following day, on April 26, Alex Gopher turned himself in to the North Battleford RCMP Detachment. He was taken into custody with assistance from WEST and STRT members.

All three appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 27.

 

Original Story:

Battleford RCMP received a report of an assault at a residence on the Saulteaux First Nation at approximately 12:15 p.m., on April 18, 2023.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers located an adult male with serious injuries and began providing first aid immediately. Officers called for help from local EMS, and the male was transported to hospital in Saskatoon with serious injuries.

The North Battleford RCMP Provincial General Investigation Section (GIS), began an investigation with the assistance of Saskatoon RCMP GIS.

The following day, investigators were notified that the injured male would not survive his injuries and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes deployed to North Battleford and took responsibility for the investigation.

The adult male, 22-year-old, Quin Suqair, from Wilkie, was declared deceased in hospital. Victim services have been made available for the family.

In relation to the death of Quin Squair, Investigators have charged the following:

26-year-old Riley Gopher from Saulteaux First Nation is charged with second-degree murder and robbery.

A 17-year-old youth from Saulteaux First Nation is charged with second-degree murder, robbery, disguise with intent, and unlawful confinement.

22-year-old Wionna Katcheech from Saulteaux First Nation is charged with second-degree murder and unlawful confinement.

31-year-old Alex Gopher from Sweetgrass First Nation is charged with second-degree murder.

21-year-old Colton Swiftwolfe from Moosomin First Nation is charged with second-degree murder and robbery.

Riley Gopher and the 17-year-old youth were arrested on April 22. They made their first court appearance on April 24.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Wionna Katcheech, Alex Gopher, and Colton Swiftwolfe. 

Wionna Katcheech is described as having long brown hair and eyes.  She is five feet four inches tall and weighs approximately 161 pounds.

Alex Gopher is described as having short brown hair and eyes.  He is six feet tall and weighs approximately 220 pounds.

Colton Swiftwolfe is described as having short brown hair and eyes.  He is five feet seven inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds.

Investigators with Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime, General Investigation Section, North Battleford RCMP Detachment, including the Gang Task Force, and the Saskatchewan Crime Reduction Team continue working to locate and arrest these three individuals.
