Midale saw a good amount of success recently from a yearly auction that brought in over $100,000 help out the community's rink.

The 28th annual M.O.R.E. (Midale Organization for Recreational Expansion) 2000 Inc. fundraising auction brought people into the Harry 'O Memorial Arena for a meal and an auction.

Marnell Eagles, the Midale Recreation Board's chairwoman, says it was quite a success.

"We had our annual auction, It's called the Midale M.O.R.E. auction. We had it on April the 15th and Midale we had supper and we had an auction,e had various games. It was a huge success, we raised over $108,000 for our rank. We just saw huge support in the area."

The money raised will go towards projects in the rink and will help out the next batch of volunteers who will help out the community.

"There are some major, major projects that are going to go forward. We have some meetings coming up in the next while to bring some of the information to the table to see whether it's affordable, see how it presents itself, and it's always going to be for the betterment of the rink and for longevity."

"That's what we're shooting for, is so that the next people who step up to the board do have not as much stress and concern going forward. They can see the future in Midale with the arena and with the discussions that we're going to have at our board table here in the next couple of days"

They were helped out by more than just those in Midale, with people coming out from across the southeast.

"I just want to show appreciation to all the areas that gave money to our Midale rink. It's found from everyone from Estevan to Weyburn, and in between, and farther. We couldn't have been more happy with the progress we had and the people that showed up. It was just huge support for our rink again and everyone has said without having a rink in a main centre," said Eagles, "It is the heart of your community and that's what we all strive for, to keep that open and viable."
