Fort Saskatchewan RCMP has charged a man for allegedly stealing mail.

Earlier this month, police observed a man in downtown Fort Saskatchewan. After making an arrest for unrelated matters, police say they found the man to be in possession of multiple pieces of mail that was not in his name.

As a result, 37-year-old Danny Hasnip, a resident of Red Deer, was charged by the RCMP with the following:

  • Theft of mail
  • Possession of break-in tools
  • Illegal possession of government documents x 2

The arrest comes after a recent rise in mail theft throughout the city. The RCMP has previously provided some tips on how to safeguard yourself from these types of crimes.

Hasnip was brought before a Justice and was released on conditions. His next court date is May 11.

If you have any more information on these types of crimes, you are asked to contact your local RCMP detachment.
