There's been an update on the fire near Redwater.
On Thursday evening (May 4), fire crews were on the scene of Township Road 575 and Range Road 215 near the Redwater transfer station.
Diane Pysmeny with the Town of Redwater says that crews had gotten the fire under control overnight.
"We're just asking people to avoid the area and let the crews continue to work on the fire,"
Although the fire has been contained, Range Road 215 has been closed between Township Road 580 and 54 Avenue as crews continue to put out what's left of the fire.
The Redwater transfer station has also closed down due to being so close to the blaze. The station is expected to be open again next week.
There is no indication that Redwater residents will need to evacuate.
"Obviously, these situations can change," added Pysmeny. "Everyone just be on guard, aware, and take care. We will keep everyone posted if the need arises, but there is no concern for evacuation at this point."
There were no injuries from the blaze and no damage to structures.
