The Saskatchewan Health Authority is excited to announce its new online booking system.
The booking system makes appointments at F.H. Wigmore Hospital, Crescent View Clinic, and Alliance Health Centre.
Lenore Howey, Executive Director of Laboratory Medicine for SHA, says the system is convenient and easy to navigate.
"We have added this platform to the vaccine booking system. It's the same system that patients have navigated in the past," Howey explained. "If you are unsure how to navigate it, it is really easy to ask a friend or a family member to help and assist on the first use.
The main reason this booking system was created was because of the high demand for vaccinations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"During the pandemic, when we had a lot of requirements for social distancing, we had set up a manual booking system in high-demand locations," Howey mentioned. "This has now replaced that manual booking system to now go online and book it at your convenience."
The goal of this booking system is to maximize efficiency, create convenience for patients, and ensure safety in the delivery of lab services.
"This is a platform to help patients reduce the time they are in the waiting room waiting for their appointments," Howey remarked. "Walk-in patients are always accepted at these locations. but the walk-in times will be highest between 8:00 and 10:00 in the morning due to the demand for fasting blood work collections."
Howey added that patients can avoid these inconveniences by going online and booking a date and time that works best for them. The platform is open 24/7 for those who wish to book.
People can book their appointments at www.saskhealthauthority.ca. They will be prompted to enter their health card number and phone number or email.
