Bruderheim has plans for a several million dollar upgrade to its water reservoir.

The Town of Bruderheim has a big project on the way - a several million-dollar upgrade to their water reservoir system.

The money was given through the Alberta Municipal Water/Waste Water Partnership Program, which serves to provide cost-shared funding to help build municipal facilities for water supply and treatment.

"The total estimated cost of the project is $4.4 million, and the province is putting in $3 million, so the town will have to find $1.4 million," said Phyllis Forsyth, chief administrative officer with the town.

"The reservoir upgrade will increase the firefighting capabilities of our municipalities, and help us continue to grow," added Forsyth.

When presented with the cheque back in April, mayor Karl Hauch spoke about how important this donation is to the community.

"That will secure the future of Bruderheim," said Hauch. "Our town wouldn't have been able to grow anymore if we wouldn't have that [water reservoir] project."

The project is expected to be completed in 2025.
