Wildfire smoke is causing poor air quality in the region.
Categories

A special air quality statement has been issued for the region.

Residents went to bed after enjoying a sunny start to the week but awoke to a smoky haze this morning.

Environment Canada says that this smoke is coming from nearby wildfires and is affecting the area's air quality and visibility on the roads.

According to the Fort Air Partnership, air quality today is expected to hit the high-risk zone.

Among the people most at risk during these conditions are those with lung and heart disease, older adults, kids, pregnant people, and people who work outside.

If you need to be outside during these conditions, it is good practice to always make sure to manage your workload and make sure you take breaks if breathing becomes difficult or uncomfortable.

Conditions are expected to improve by tomorrow.
