Elizabeth Martha Munroe, 64, started her journey to the spirit world on March 30th, 2021 at 12:38 am, with her family by her side.
Elizabeth is predeceased by her parents, John and Nora Munroe, and in-laws, Harry and Nora White. Also her brothers Henry Munroe, Arthur Munroe, and missing sister Viola Panacheese.
She is survived by her husband, Roland White. Sisters, Mary Lenheart (Luke), Ina Commanda (Lloyd), James Munroe (Lillian), twin sister Margaret Chum (Daniel). Her children Jodi Ann Albany (Stan), Rolanda Wilson (Eric), Shawn, Dusty (Shirley), Melodie, and Angel. Also survived by her precious grand babies that she raised as her own: Storm, Dream, MorningStar, and Waabi. Also by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and students she referred to as her own.
Elizabeth was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario along with a twin sister. Their mother named them after two famous ladies, Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret. Elizabeth also known as Liz, attended residential school. She is a residential school survivor.
She became a mother at a young age and had her first daughter Jodi Ann. She met and married her husband Roland White and had five more children. They were sealed together in the Salt Lake City temple. Elizabeth had the most important job as a mother and raised her children in Whitefish Bay, Ontario, Provo, Utah, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Elizabeth worked as a child care worker and cook throughout her life. She was educated in child care and her passion was working with children of all ages. She was referred to as “kokum” at the daycare in Winnipeg and she loved being a kokum to all children. She loved, cared and taught her children at home and at work. Her most important character she displayed is love, through her actions of dedicated time and service.
She continued to be a mother, kokum and grandmother by taking time off work to be the primary caregiver and guardian of her four grandchildren. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She especially cared for their overall wellbeing, safety and happiness. She taught them to love, pray and help anyone and everyone.
Elizabeth enjoyed travelling to powwows, playing bingo, and making new friends. She often spoke to new people and would speak her mind. She had a very kind, compassionate and giving heart. She would cook and feed guests and visitors that would come to her home and community. She would give shelter and provide room for anyone who needed a place to stay. She would give what she had if someone needed it. She would listen, talk and share with friends when anyone needed encouragement, support and love. She gave her time to everyone and always told everyone that she loves them. She made sure that everyone felt valued and validated in her presence. She also had a sense of humour like no other. Elizabeth will always be remembered for her loving, kind, and sincere attributes.
Viewing ceremony in Thunder Bay will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fort William Everest Funeral Home. Wake and viewing ceremony in Kenora will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Airport Rd. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kenora. Burial will take place on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. on Naotkamegwanning First Nation - Whitefish Bay, Ontario.
