Hot weather and even some rain could fall over the long weekend
Categories

It's shaping up to be quite a long weekend.

Though there will be lingering wildfire smoke for the region over the weekend, it is looking to be very nice otherwise.

"It will be a continuation of the hot and dry conditions we've had for the last little while," said Eric van Lochem with Environment Canada.

The average temperature for this time of year hovers around the 18 C mark, but people should be expecting much hotter weather over the next few days.

"It should be a fairly pleasant weekend," said van Lochem. "We're looking at high temperatures in the upper 20s, maybe closing in on 30 C."

A quick look at the FortSaskOnline forecast shows the following daytime highs for the long weekend:

  • Saturday: 28 C
  • Sunday: 29 C
  • Monday: 22 C

Of course, proper preparation should be taken to make sure you stay safe during these high temperatures. Packing along some sunscreen and keeping hydrated with water are some of the easiest ways to make sure you stay healthy in the sun.

Earlier this week the forecast wasn't calling for any rain but that has changed.

"There is increasing confidence that we are going to see a fair bit of rain on Monday going into Tuesday," said van Lochem. "Most of it should fall from Tuesday to Wednesday but it will start late Monday afternoon."

Also, a reminder that fire bans are also in place for Fort Saskatchewan and much of the province as well.
