Strathcona County RCMP arrested a man last week for an alleged kidnapping.

Police say the case started when received a complaint on May 11 that detailed an armed kidnapping that happened in mid-April.

RCMP received the report from a woman who claimed to be the victim of the kidnapping. The complaint involved the woman going to a Sherwood Park residence in mid-April to retrieve some belongings when she was allegedly assaulted by a man she knew, who had a weapon.

The report then says that the woman was forced into a vehicle and assaulted before being taken to another location where she was dropped off.

On May 18, the Strathcona County RCMP General Investigation Section was assisted by the RCMP Emergency Response Team North and the RCMP Police Dog Service in arresting the male suspect at a residence on Groveland Road.

Police executed a search warrant at the resident and a vehicle on the property but were unable to locate the gun allegedly used.

As a result, 40-year-old George Siemens, a resident of Camrose Country, has been charged with the following:

  • Kidnapping with a gun
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Careless use of a gun (x2)
  • Pointing a gun
  • Uttering threats
  • Fail to comply (x3)

Siemens has been remanded into custody and will appear in a provincial court on Wednesday (May 24).
